Made By Bharat: building the marketplace and the operating system behind it.
Made By Bharat began with an ambitious proposition: create a marketplace dedicated to products made in India, then make it credible enough for buyers and practical enough for independent vendors to use.
We joined before the product had settled into a fixed shape. The work included research, product strategy, identity, the buyer experience, vendor onboarding, seller and admin systems, payments, shipping, AR product previews and the AWS infrastructure underneath it.
The platform launched and more than 100 vendors came on board. The business did not reach the commercial scale its founders hoped for. That distinction matters. The product worked, the operation started and the technology was ready. Building a sustainable marketplace required a level of demand generation and operating scale beyond the software itself.

An Indian marketplace needed more than a storefront.
A multi-vendor marketplace has at least three products inside it. Buyers need to find and trust the catalogue. Sellers need a clear way to join, list, fulfil and understand orders. The operating team needs enough control to keep the whole thing moving.
Made By Bharat also carried a strong editorial promise. Products had to belong to a clear “made in India” proposition, and the experience needed to communicate that without turning every purchase into a lecture.
We worked across the product, not around its edges.
Product discovery and operating model
We studied how established marketplaces handled catalogues, vendor onboarding, payments, shipping and administration. The aim was not to imitate their interfaces. It was to understand the operational commitments hidden behind them and decide what the first version of Made By Bharat needed to support.
Identity and buyer experience
The team developed the logo and the public-facing experience, including catalogue structure, browsing, product detail and the paths that moved a visitor towards purchase.
Vendor onboarding and seller tools
Sellers needed a usable route into the marketplace. We built the onboarding flow and seller panel, then supported the early work of bringing more than 100 vendors onto the platform.
Administration and integrations
The admin system covered the day-to-day control required to operate the marketplace. Payment and shipping partners were integrated into the flow so the product could move beyond a visual prototype and into real transactions.
AR product previews
Selected products could be previewed through augmented reality. The feature was designed as a useful part of product consideration rather than a novelty placed on the homepage.
Infrastructure
The platform ran on AWS, with Design & Code managing the hosting and infrastructure needed for launch and early operations.

A working product is necessary. It is not the whole business.
Made By Bharat reached the point many marketplace ideas never reach. Vendors were onboarded, the platform was live and the operating systems were in place. The challenge that followed was commercial scale.
The project remains valuable to us because it made the boundaries of product work very clear. Technology can remove friction, give a team control and make an idea operable. It cannot create demand or run the organisation on its own. We bring that lesson into every marketplace conversation now.
Credits and boundaries
Design & Code owned the product and engineering scope described on this page. The marketplace’s commercial operations and long-term growth were led by the client.
