Careers
Design and engineering careers in Mumbai, for people who like to finish things
D&C Studios began with three engineering students answering their own support line, sometimes at two in the morning, because a customer's website was down and nobody else was going to fix it. We are 35+ people and specialists now. We still hire for the same instinct: people who ship, care what happens after launch and would rather show the work than talk about it.
Why D&C
Why people join, and why they stay.
We are not the biggest studio in Mumbai and do not plan to be. We are trying to be the one where good people do the best work of their careers.
Small senior teams.
A partner is involved in every engagement and you work beside people who have shipped for years. There are no layers between you and the client, so you hear the problem first hand.
Design and code in the same room.
Designers sit in sprint reviews. Engineers sit in the first workshop. The Ampersand Method is built so nobody throws work over a wall, and nobody catches it on the other side.
Work that reaches real people.
Learning programmes for GoDaddy and Mahindra, a member portal for a co-operative credit society, a marketplace for Indian makers, stores for brands in Dubai. 14 industries across 11 countries. See the work.
You see what happens after launch.
We started in hosting, so we never stop at go-live. You will read the analytics, see the support tickets and get the chance to make the thing you built better next quarter.
Room to grow.
Every significant pull request is reviewed by our lead developer, every design by a senior designer. There is a yearly learning budget, time for talks and courses, and a clear conversation about your next step every six months.
Where we always hire
We hire for disciplines, not dated job ads.
These are the disciplines we are always glad to hear from, mostly at mid and senior level. We also take a small number of interns each year, usually from engineering and design colleges in Mumbai, which is where our own story began.
- Product designerResearch, UX and UI from the first workshop to the last sprint. You are fluent in Figma, comfortable testing prototypes with real users and happy to defend a decision with evidence. Design systems and accessibility are part of the job, not a specialism.
- Full stack engineerWeb applications, APIs and integrations in Next.js, React and Node.js, or Laravel. You will connect products to payments, CRMs, ERPs and point of sale systems, and deploy to AWS. Shopify and WooCommerce experience is welcome for our commerce work.
- Mobile engineeriOS and Android apps in Flutter or React Native, going native when it matters. You care about offline behaviour, app store releases and how the app feels on a mid range phone with a patchy connection.
- QA engineerIn our method the phase is called Build & Break, and breaking it first is your job. Automated tests in Playwright, testing on real devices, accessibility checks and the release discipline that makes launch days calm.
- 3D and AR developerAugmented and virtual reality for learning, buying and deciding, from 3D product previews to industrial training modules like Mahindra MILU. Unity and Blender, with an eye for keeping models light enough for ordinary phones.
- Growth marketerSearch, performance marketing, email and WhatsApp for the products we build. You like a clean dashboard and an honest experiment, and you would rather move one number properly than report on twenty.
How we hire
Five steps, and no trick questions.
No whiteboard puzzles and no unpaid weekend projects. We want to see how you think and how you work, in conditions that look like the real job.
- 01
Write to us
Email connect@designandcode.tech with two or three pieces of work you are proud of and a few lines on what you want to do next. A partner reads every application, and you will hear back within ten working days either way.
- 02
A first conversation
Thirty minutes with a partner or a lead about your work, the decisions behind it and what you are looking for. You should leave knowing a good deal more about us than when you arrived.
- 03
A paid, practical exercise
A small task close to real studio work, capped at four hours and paid. If you would rather walk us through something you have already built, that works too.
- 04
Meet the team
A pairing session with the people you would work beside, in the Mumbai studio or on video. You interview them as much as they interview you.
- 05
A clear answer
A decision within a week of meeting the team. An offer comes in writing, with the role, the salary and a plan for your first ninety days.
Life at the studio
A Mumbai studio with a global client list.
The core team works together in Mumbai for most of the week and from wherever suits them the rest of it. Clients sit in Dubai, London, Singapore and beyond, so the day has a shape: shared mornings with the Gulf and Singapore, afternoons that overlap with the UK. Everyone ships and everyone supports. Engineers join client calls, designers read the analytics, and the best idea in the room can come from anyone.
- & Hybrid: three days a week in the Mumbai studio, the rest wherever you work best
- & A demo every Friday, where people present their own work
- & Chai at four, and Monsoon Fridays when the rain makes the commute a small adventure
- & A yearly learning budget and time set aside to use it
- & Health insurance for you and your family
- & Time for nonprofit and community projects, because technology should help beyond the balance sheet
